Help Wanted - Personal Care Provider (PT)
Do you love people? Do you find it rewarding to make a difference in people’s lives? Do you want to be treated with respect and appreciation? I'm a partially disabled artist, social justice and environmental justice activist who needs help with cooking, light housekeeping, bathing and dressing, errands, and cat petting. No heavy lifting.
$22/hour to start. I request a 2 to 4-hour-a-week commitment minimum. I also pay an extra $3.22/hour into FICA (social security and Medicare), FUTA (federal unemployment tax), SUTA (state unemployment tax), and workmen’s comp. Currently Tuesdays and Thursdays and fill in is available.
Do you enjoy art and stimulating conversation? I'm a longtime multimedia artist and mystic, and I was previously a physicist. I'm gluten-free and vegan. I live in north Boulder in a sunny, non-toxic apartment with my cat, maidenhair ferns, art supplies, and finished projects on the walls. I value a positive, upbeat attitude and reliability. Cooking and cleaning are important yet undervalued skills in this culture, and for me they are essential, so I’m appreciative and respectful of my caregivers. I love to laugh, and it can get quite whimsical around here.
I have allergies to smoke and scented products, so I need assistance from an organized, neat, hygienic, fragrance-free (this means you use unscented hair and body products, unscented laundry soap etc), and pleasant non-smoker who knows how to cook healthy foods according to my recipes. I also need help with dressing and personal hygiene so I’m looking for women to help me. Because I have a compromised immune system, wearing a mask while here is required. You should also have a car or use the bus to shop for me occasionally. This may not be the most glamorous of jobs, but you get to make a real difference in someone’s life which makes the world a better place.
