CAREGIVER
Need caregiver for 2 overnight shifts per wk.
Hours 6pm - 10am. The particular nights of the week
will have to be coordinated with my other helpers.
I have ALS but I am mentally sharp.
I use a ventilator 50% of the time.
Using homemade electric lifts, I need assistance transferring among
wheelchair, scooter, bed, shower bench, toilet.
I need showering and dressing.
During the night I need to be turned 4-8 times. Otherwise, you can sleep.
Other tasks include: simple food prep, and
range of motion stretching.
A large part of the job revolves around my service dog:
Exercising, playing, grooming.
A couple of times daily she walks around the
neighborhood; sometimes with me in a powerchair.
Weather permitting, we go to a park or lake.
Prior experience is not as important as being a fast learner.
For this job, it is important that you are nimble and agile;
For example, getting up and down many times from the floor and working
in tight spaces. Moderate strength is needed for the transfers but
finesse is more important. Some helpers are just average size females.
You must not be intimidated by homemade mechanical, electrical
and computer equipment.
Bonus if you are handy with simple tools.
Bonus if you have computer skills.
Starting pay: $25/hr plus annual IRA and bonus contributions.
