Specialty Veterinary Technician Manager The Specialty Technician Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional medical care by ensuring the seamless daily operations of technical staff while fostering long-term growth and excellence. $60,000- $80,000 depending on experience
Anticipated Schedule
4x10 shifts
On call rotation every 4-5 weeks

Duties & Responsibilities
People Management
Recruitment : Maintain and monitor the recruitment platform for all open Specialty technical positions.
Staffing Oversight : Collaborate with the Hospital Director to assess staffing needs, including hiring, training, disciplining, and terminating as required.
Selection & Onboarding : Recruit and participate in the selection process of new employees, ensuring completion of orientation and training.
Performance Management : Conduct annual performance appraisals, provide coaching and mentorship, and identify ongoing skill-building needs alongside the Learning and Development team.
Employee Morale : Assist in performance-based incentive programs, mediate conflicts, and maintain employee satisfaction.
Licensure Compliance : Track and ensure all RVTs maintain current licensure.
Hospital Operations
Daily Oversight : Assist in the daily operations of Specialty technical staff.
Scheduling : Oversee technical staffing and scheduling, ensuring alignment with budget and operational needs.
Strategic Planning : Collaborate with department leads and the Hospital Director to maximize staff efficiency and revenue growth.
Client Care : Partner with the Client Experience Manager to ensure client satisfaction and optimal patient care.
Safety Compliance : Work with the OSHA/Safety Officer to maintain a robust hospital safety program.
Risk Management : Collaborate with the Risk Management Officer for root cause analysis and technical staff training development.
Financial Duties
Payroll Management : Oversee all Specialty technical staff payroll processes, including missed punches, PTO, CE days, bereavement, and sick leave.
Inventory Oversight : Manage inventory for Specialty departments and assist in budget planning and financial analysis.
Expense Management : Submit expenses to Oracle for processing.
Technology Support
System Knowledge : Stay current with all features of EzVet & Smartflow (hospital operating systems).
Vendor Relations : Maintain relationships with vendors for hospital Specialty department inventory.
Communication : Notify Specialty staff of system updates, shutdowns, or equipment upgrades.
Training : Ensure technical staff receives adequate training on hospital operating systems.
Employee Resource Management
Recruiting & Hiring : Support the Hospital Director with recruiting, interviewing, and pre-hire processes.
Performance Reviews : Assist team leaders in addressing employee performance concerns and maintaining disciplinary documentation.
Resource Tracking : Maintain annual calendars of employee paid time off, CE funds, and uniform allowances while keeping employees informed of account balances.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical Experience : Licensed Veterinary Technician experience in a tertiary setting strongly preferred.
Supervisory Experience : Proven track record in managing staff within a veterinary setting.
Managerial Skills : Strong administrative and leadership abilities.
Work Ethic : Positive attitude and adaptability to changing situations.
Attention to Detail : Ability to focus on details while maintaining awareness of broader goals.
Confidentiality : Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
Physical Abilities : Capability to handle, lift, and restrain animals; ability to stand for long periods and perform medical procedures.
Clinical Expertise : Proficient in administering CPR, drawing blood, administering medications/fluids, and assessing/training patients.
Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Independent Work : Ability to work autonomously and produce high-quality outcomes.
Multi-tasking : Skilled at handling multiple priorities effectively .
