This position provides functional, operational, and instructional support to engineering students, staff, and faculty of all levels and engineering disciplines. The Engineering Project Consultant leads the entire ITLP material-testing ecosystem, which includes providing experienced guidance on tension, compression, torsion, and vibration testing as well as material characterization. This position partners with the Engineering Education Operations (EEO) team to develop hands-on workshops and training related to 3D printing and various other prototyping and testing tools and resources. They continuously update laboratory equipment and pedagogy according to current educational research and industry trends and improve laboratory resources in innovative ways. The Engineering Projects Consultant also partners with ITLP staff on pre-college engineering education initiatives to support the development of a diverse and well-prepared engineering workforce. Join our team and help us build a more inclusive and diverse academic and engineering culture - apply today!What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeTechnical Consultation, Leadership, and Instruction: Material Testing:

Co-leads the entire material-testing ecosystem. This ecosystem includes training students to use various equipment (e.g., universal testing machines, torsion machines, and vibration shakers), the development and iteration of hands-on workshop content, equipment maintenance, repair, and life-cycle management.

Evaluates and improves experiments related to material testing and vibrations for effectiveness in demonstrating fundamental concepts to students in intriguing and informative ways.

Provides in-advance and impromptu technical help support to students and faculty to ensure that project-based courses run smoothly.

Independently researches, tests and implements prototyping equipment in the ITL Laboratory, focused on additive manufacturing and laser cutting.

Conducts numerous hands-on educational workshops for students and/or faculty each semester (material testing, vibration testing, strain gauges, sensors, 3D printing, etc.) and trains ITL Program student staff to do the same.

Collaborates with EEO team to provide educational support and guidance for fabrication, and rapid prototyping.

Reads, writes, and debugs LabVIEW VIs, Arduino code, and additional programming environments as needed.

Faculty Collaboration and Engineering Education Curriculum Development:

Works with multiple CEAS faculty members to design and build hands-on equipment and curriculum for their courses. Assists in the instruction or implementation of this curriculum, as needed.

Evaluate ITLP experiments for effectiveness in demonstrating fundamental concepts to students in intriguing and informative ways.

Laboratory Process Improvement and Quality Control:

Continuously creates learning and technological opportunities for CU engineering students, ensuring that students have modern and robust technology at their disposal.

Anticipates student needs and handles the stock of required material and equipment to ensure that project-based engineering courses run smoothly.

Pre-College Engineering Education Support:

Supports ITLP collaboration efforts with program partners such as the BOLD Center, I Have a Dream Foundation, TeachEngineering, the NSF-funded ASPIRE Engineering Research Center, and others.

Develops and facilitates hands-on skill-building workshops for teachers, pre-college campus visits, outreach activities, summer camps, and other opportunities.

Other Responsibilities:

Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Participates in professional development activities and serves on unit, college, or campus committees as applicable.

What We Can Offer

Annual salary range for Professional Level II: $63,500-$67,500

Annual salary range for Professional Level III: $68,000-$76,000

Relocation assistance is available within CEAS guidelines.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering.

One year of professional and/or teaching experience in engineering or a technical field. Teaching experience may include time as a student teaching assistant.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

Professional Level III:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Three or more years of professional and/or teaching experience in engineering.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
