Job Title: Head Coach & Assistant Coach - Coed Middle School Volleyball Summer Camp

Location: SMWS Gymnasium

Duration: One week (half-day camp)

Dates: TBD pending coaches' availability

Reports to: Athletic Director

Date: Summer 2024

Overview:

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced volleyball coaches to lead a coed middle school volleyball camp. The primary goal of the camp is to teach fundamental volleyball skills, foster teamwork, and support the growth of the middle school volleyball program. Coaches will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and inclusive environment where campers can develop their skills and build lasting friendships.

Head Coach:

1. Develop a comprehensive camp curriculum focusing on fundamental volleyball skills appropriate for middle school-aged participants.

2. Lead daily instructional sessions covering techniques such as serving, passing, setting, spiking, and defense.

3. Plan and organize drills, activities, and scrimmages to engage campers and reinforce learning objectives.

4. Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to campers to facilitate skill development.

5. Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitudes among campers.

6. Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.

7. Collaborate with the athletic director and the assistant coaches and camp staff to coordinate logistics and manage camper behavior.

8. Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and camp administrators regarding camp schedules, expectations, and any necessary updates.

Assistant Coach:

1. Assist the head coach in delivering instructional sessions and leading drills.

2. Provide individualized support and feedback to campers during practice and game simulations.

3. Help set up and organize equipment for drills and scrimmages.

4. Supervise campers during breaks and transition periods to ensure safety and orderly conduct.

5. Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating sportsmanship and enthusiasm for volleyball.

6. Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as attendance tracking and equipment inventory.

7. Collaborate with the athletic director and head coach to maintain a positive and inclusive camp environment.

8. Support the head coach in implementing camp policies and procedures effectively.

Qualifications:

- Previous coaching experience, preferably in volleyball or related sports.

- Strong knowledge of fundamental volleyball skills and techniques.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire campers.

- Positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working with middle school-aged participants.

- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred, but not required).

- Background check clearance (required).

Pay Rates:

- Head Coach: $25/hour

- Assistant Coach: $20/hour

- Higher pay may be offered based on experience
