Growing Minds Learning Academy Early Childhood teachers are responsible for creating an environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of the children in their class. She/he will serve as a team member in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans in their classroom and work in cooperation with co-teachers, site staff, the site leader, and all other personnel of Growing Minds Learning Academy.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
At least 1 year of verifiable childcare experience
CPR Certified, or the willingness to obtain certification within the first 60 day of job
Must have a passion working with children.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and child development philosophies and practices.
Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to young children.
Knowledge of innovative lesson planning for children between ages of 6 weeks-5 years.
Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and procedures for classroom management.
Read books to entire classes and to small groups
Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
Observe and assess children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence
