Position Summary: The Emergency Department Paramedic (ED Medic) may provide services that are within the scope of the ED Medic’s Colorado Paramedic Certification without physician supervision and direction and is responsible for implementing technical procedures and care to Emergency Department patients safely and effectively. However, any service provided directly to a patient must be pursuant to protocols, procedures and policies of the Hospital and pursuant to an Emergency Physician’s express order and in accordance with the applicable standard of care and the requirements of this Job Description. The ED Medic reports to the Hospital’s Patient Care Director of Emergency Services. The quality of care and service given will adhere to the philosophy and objectives of HealthONE in order to meet the healthcare needs of patients and their families. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current certification in the State of Colorado as a Paramedic. NREMT – P preferred. Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications through American Heart Association or American Red Cross required. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/Advanced CPI (Crisis Prevention Institution) certification required.B. Education: Successful completion of EMS course.C. Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a field paramedic or EMT with an EMS agency, and/or any type of clinical experience working in a hospital.D. Special Qualifications: Knowledge of basic clinical practices, procedures, and standards. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Basic knowledge of computer systems and good interpersonal skills.
