Hand off of cases must include documentation and follow departmental protocols.
Participate in quality improvement processes and projects.

Provide on call coverage on rotation with other physicians, nights and weekends.
Attend post-mortem examinations at either site (predominantly neuropathology).

Serve as a neuropathology attending clinical educator at both sites for fellows, residents, medical students and others rotating or assigned to your service such as neurology, neuroradiology trainees, through didactic or other educational activities.

Examples of such academic productivity are provided in the guidelines for promotion and tenure of the School of Medicine. These may include original scientific or theme focused manuscripts, reviews or case-reports, lectures, tutorials, or other forms of professional achievement. We do not expect you to obtain your own external grants, however, participation on grants as a co-investigator, collaborator or subcontracting expert are encouraged as long as it does not preclude your primary responsibilities noted above.
You are eligible to apply for intradepartmental funding to support small research efforts, as long as you include one of our residents or fellows, and mentor them as part of the project. This requires you to obtain IRB approval (if needed), submit a three page grant application, and provide a budget.
Service 5 %
All faculty are expected to serve the Department of Pathology, the School of Medicine and the University, as well as your sites of practice hospitals through participation in committees, meetings, and other activities.
