Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a high caliber Staff Supplier Quality Engineer with extensive background in PWB/PCB design, manufacturing processes and inspection criteria to join the Supplier Performance Team in based in Southern California . The candidate needs to be able to spend 75% of their time at key PWB/PCB suppliers in California, Oregen and Colorado.

Independently assess new suppliers or processes to assure successful implementation and control of advanced PWB technologies such HDI and HDBU as the industry capacity increases. Thorough working knowledge of PWB designs, processes, and materials is critical.

Excellent problems solving skills and experience to support complex yield issues affecting supplier deliveries and program schedules. The ability to define and track problems and engage suppliers and NGC engineering to improve delivery performance is key.

Attend production readiness reviews to ensure drawing requirements, NGC specifications and compliance requirements are understood by all parties. Collaborate with the supply base on quality/process improvements and design for manufacturability opportunities

Leverage PWB/PCB technical knowledge and experience to resolve issues with the supplier, NGC engineering, and program stake holders to productive solutions in a professional and conclusive manner.

Become the liaison between parties to assure suppliers are making effective improvements to support yields and on time deliveries. Support risk mitigation activities to ensure supplier transitions are executed on time and with minimal quality issues.

Strong ability to drive team initiatives and projects from cradle to grave, providing team members inputs to keep projects on track. Ability to effectively manage meeting with suppliers, and NGC.

Lead supplier engagements and surveillance activities, including the quality related discussions during supplier performance reviews, Quality System audits as well as PWB/PCB process audits.

Capable of facilitating RCCA activities and can effectively develop and execute CI initiatives and activities with internal and external teams. Guide the team to the most efficient path to resolution, resolving conflicting engineering judgments and influencing without authority

Bring clarity and order to challenging situations, while valuing the time of heavily loaded individuals. Seed the team with fresh technical suggestions in the event of a stall in the problem-solving process.

Strong communication skills (both oral and written). Have the ability to develop presentation and present in front of all levels of leadership.

Develop training material, deliver training to large audience and mentor engineers when needed.

Ability to perform data packet reviews, First Article Inspections or source inspections.

Understands general contracting principles in a Department of Defense and commercial environment

Establish positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams

Collaborate in a team environment, negotiate and integrate different viewpoints, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results.

Represent the company with credibility, confidence and professionalism

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in STEM related field with minimum of 12 years of related experience in supporting mission/quality assurance, microelectronics, electrical engineering, process engineering or manufacturing. (Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree in a STEM related field; 7 years with a PhD in a STEM related field.

-Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.-US Citizenship required.

Manufacturing engineering experience in PWB/PCB fabrication.

Demonstrated Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements

-Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action

Experience in leading teams and projects

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Defense industry working experience

Six Sigma or Lean concept.

Certificate in IPC600 and IPC6012.

Solid understanding of complex HDI and HDBU lamination and micro via structures.

AS9100 Lead Auditor.
