Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy RevolutionBecome an Advanced Metering Infrastructure Product Evaluation Engineer working within System Planning and Engineering business unit at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. You will work in the Customer Grid Edge group to test and evaluate new metering and associated products towards selecting the next gen AMI technology and supporting regulatory mandated projects.In this Advanced Metering Infrastructure Product Evaluation Engineer role your work will advance SCE’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Grid Modernization efforts. It will help with renewable energy integration at residential and commercial levels and reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Conduct Testing to ensure products performs and meets the new functionality, safety, accuracy, and reliability standards as outlined in applicable ANSI Standards.

Analyze, develop recommendations, and collaborate with external vendors and other business units to resolve technical metering issues.

Work with the Project Managers and Senior Engineers to provide deployment and product implementation support in the Field.

Conduct data analysis for billing issues and other meter failure issues observed in the Field.

Interface with operation personnel in; Metering Field Operations, IT Grid Services (Advanced Meter Operations), Engineering, IT-Service Management Office & Operations, and Installation Management Services to provide engineering analysis and support in day-to-day activities.

The essentials

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or bachelor’s degree in a scientific/technical field.

Two years of experience in an engineering related discipline/industry

The preferred

Two or more years in test and evaluation of electrical products and systems testing, which include firmware, hardware, and software testing.

Two years of demonstrated experience troubleshooting and performing failure cause analysis on product failures and in-service issues.

You should know

This position’s work mode is HYBRID.  The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
