Description We are searching for a Senior Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector, located in Watsonville, California. This role involves various accounting tasks, including managing accounts payable and receivable, general ledger and bank account reconciliation, and preparation of monthly financial statements. You will also be involved in budgeting processes, compiling grant expenditure reports, and preparing statistical and financial reports for various departments.Responsibilities: Manage accounts payable and receivable activities, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and processed. Conduct regular reconciliation of general ledger, bank, and broker accounts. Prepare draft monthly financial statements, providing a clear and accurate representation of financial position. Maintain fixed assets records and assist with the annual budgeting process. Compile grant expenditure reporting, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date. Prepare statistical and financial reports for departments, finance committee, and Board of Directors. Apply the General Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) in all accounting tasks, including analytical work and thorough review of financial reports. Assist in the preparation of miscellaneous confidential correspondence. Utilize various software and platforms including Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP to perform accounting tasks and maintain records. Perform month-end close procedures, including preparing and posting journal entries.This role offers a contract employment opportunity. Please note that this role requires specific skills including account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, general ledger management, journal entries, Microsoft Excel, month-end close, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP. Requirements Candidate must possess at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations is expected. Demonstrable experience with General Ledger and Journal Entries is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Experience in Month End Close procedures is necessary. Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP accounting software is required. A background in the non-profit industry is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required. CPA certification is preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Knowledge of financial regulations and standards. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse groups of people. Proactive attitude and ability to take initiative.
