The Asphalt foreman is responsible for overseeing Asphalt projects, ensuring they are executed safely, efficiently, and within budget. This role plays a crucial part in managing teams, resources, and processes to achieve high-quality results and client satisfaction while meeting project goals and budgets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and manage GPM of low to medium complexity projects from inception to completion, using GPM’s SOPs, for grading and asphalt paving.
Able to measure/calculate square footage and materials needed.
Able to read work orders.
Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality control standards.
Deliver jobs on budget.
Accurate, timely JSR reporting.
Supervise and provide leadership to on-site crews. Train and evaluate team members to maintain a skilled workforce.
Foster a safety-conscious work environment, promoting adherence to safety protocols.
Ensure the quality of asphalt paving work meets or exceeds industry standards and client expectations.
Recognize drainage issues
Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, and oversight entities (inspectors, engineers, consultants, city officials) addressing concerns and inquiries promptly.
Communicate project progress, changes, and updates to the Operations Director.
Promote environmentally responsible practices, including proper disposal of waste materials.
Motivate team members through GPM’s Core Values and promote practices that improve company culture, profitability and job satisfaction.

Work Environment
Asphalt Paving foreman work environment is a mix of outdoor construction sites and interactions with various stakeholders. It demands a focus on safety, attention to detail, effective communication, fostering a team environment, holding team members accountable, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions and project requirements
Physical Demands
Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Physical fitness and stamina to inspect job sites, walk or stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift heavy objects.
Manual dexterity for handling equipment controls and tools when necessary.
Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces as needed.
Visual acuity for reading plans, documents, and inspecting work.
Position Type/ Expected Hours to Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary throughout the seasons and project demands and are expected to exceed 8 hours per day during the busiest months of the season (typically June through October.
