Become a Lifesaver: Foster a Dog with Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue!

Every year, 3.3 million dogs enter shelters, and 670,000 are euthanized. At Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue, we are dedicated to saving as many of these dogs as possible, focusing on those most at risk. We are a 100% foster-based organization and rely on compassionate individuals to provide temporary homes for our dogs while we find their forever families. If you have a love for dogs and space in your home, we need you!

About Us

Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue is a Los Angeles-based non-profit committed to rescuing dogs from shelters and giving them a fresh start. Our mission is to find loving homes for each of our rescues, but we can't do it without your help.

Urgent Foster Needs

We are urgently seeking foster homes for the following dogs:

1. Axel

Age: 4 years

Breed: Lab/Australian Shepherd mix

Energy Level: Very high; needs an active home to match his energy.

Personality: Axel is friendly with other dogs and loves to play. However, he has a hard time meeting new people due to past trauma. He takes eye contact as a direct challenge and may react negatively or lunge when first meeting someone. Axel needs a patient foster who can provide proper, slow introductions with calm individuals who won’t overwhelm him. Once he trusts you, he is a fantastic companion—playful, friendly, and good with other animals. He also loves attention from his people, and loves to play. He's an active dog who would thrive in an active household.

Foster Requirement: We are looking for a long-term foster by the end of September.

2. Jack Jack and Blankets

Age: 2 years

Breed: Bonded pair of American Bulldog mixes

Background: Found as strays and taken to a high-kill shelter before being rescued by us.

Personality: Both Jack Jack and Blankets are extremely fearful of humans due to their past experiences. They need a calm, loving environment where they can feel safe and learn to trust. They do well with other dogs but should be the only dogs in the home, as they are very bonded and will panic if separated. It will take time and patience, but the right foster will be richly rewarded by their eventual transformation into happy, confident dogs.

Foster Requirement: A long-term foster is needed by the end of September.

What We Need from You

- Age Requirement: 21+ (or have parent approval if under 21).

- Commitment: Foster until the dog is adopted, or at least 2-4 weeks. Short-term emergency fostering is also appreciated!

- Transportation: Reliable access to transportation for adoption events in West Hollywood every other Saturday and for vet appointments. Attendance at these events is mandatory.

- Experience: Comfort with large breeds and prior dog experience is essential. Please, no small dogs or cats in your home.

- Family & Home Environment: No children under 10 in the home; other large dogs are fine. Ensure you have landlord/spouse approval for fostering.

- Immediate Availability: We are looking for fosters who can start as soon as possible.
