Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Work Location: In person

Position Summary

The Facilities Staff is responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness, maintenance, and operational readiness of all club areas—both indoors and outdoors. This includes high-traffic member spaces such as the fitness floor, locker rooms, pool deck, lobby, and common areas.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring the club remains clean, safe, and fully functional. Ideal candidates take pride in their work, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and embody the Westlake Athletic Club values: Integrity, Caring, Creativity, Passion, and Excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance

Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of all spaces: fitness areas, locker rooms, restrooms, pool, offices, and outdoor walkways

Follow daily/weekly checklists and document completed tasks

Dust, mop, vacuum, and sanitize to maintain high hygiene and presentation standards

Refill supplies such as soap and paper products

Keep storage rooms and equipment areas organized and tidy

Assist with light repairs and minor upkeep under the direction of the Maintenance Manager

Opening, Closing & Shift Readiness

Complete opening/closing tasks such as:

Organizing equipment

Covering/uncovering the pool

Operating the floor-cleaning machine

Arrive on time, clock in/out accurately, and take scheduled breaks

Be prepared to work the full duration of your assigned shift

Safety, Risk & Compliance

Maintain a safe environment by promptly reporting hazards, damages, or broken equipment

Use all tools and cleaning agents in accordance with safety guidelines and chemical handling protocols

Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including COVID-19 protocols

Take responsibility for cleaning areas you work in and returning all equipment after use

Team Communication & Collaboration

Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager and other staff

Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth daily operations

Maintain a professional and helpful demeanor with members and guests

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements

Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic

Able to follow structured procedures and adapt to shifting priorities

High attention to detail; committed to a pristine environment

Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in facility maintenance, hospitality, or fitness clubs

Strong communication and organizational skills

Team player willing to cover or trade shifts to support the team

Physical Demands

Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods

Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 100 lbs

Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in variable weather conditions

Must be able to safely navigate high-traffic areas and perform repetitive motions

Certifications & Meetings

Current CPR/AED Certification (Adult/Child/Infant) through the American Red Cross (or willingness to obtain)

Attend all required meetings, including:

Company-wide “All-Call” meetings

Departmental meetings

One-on-one check-ins with the Maintenance Manager

Schedule & Availability

We are hiring for the following shifts:

General Facilities Coverage:

Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

(Fitness/pool areas, lobby, courts, locker rooms, groundskeeping)

Locker Room Coverage (Women’s Facilities):

Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays | At least 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Hours:

This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Employees may not exceed 40 hours per week without prior written approval from the General Manager.
