The City of Ventura Water Department, Wastewater Team has an exciting entry level opportunity to join their team. We are seeking candidates with a general knowledge of mechanical trades and related equipment and willing to obtain a Grade I Operators certifications from the State Water Resources Board within the first year of employment.

What You’ll Do

Under immediate supervision of a certified Wastewater Plant Operator, operates and maintains wastewater treatment plant facilities and wastewater treatment processes on an assigned shift of a tertiary wastewater treatment plant; performs routine and complex maintenance work in the upkeep of treatment plant processes, equipment, and facilities.

Position Qualifications

Graduation from high school or its equivalent, and one year of related training and/or experience in a field comparable to industrial maintenance which would provide general knowledge of the mechanical trade and motorized equipment.

License:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license upon employment. Within six months of employment, incumbent is required to obtain, and thereafter maintain, the following license:

California Class A driver's license. According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), drug testing is required.

Certificate:

Incumbents are required to obtain a State Water Resources Control Board Grade I Operator certification within 18 months from the date of employment.

Successful completion of the Grade I Operator certification at time of application is desirable.

SALARY: $26.30 - $31.97 Hourly DOQ
