Parks Supervisor (Parks Facilities Maintenance)

Are you passionate about maintaining vibrant parks and enhancing public spaces? The City of Ventura’s Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Parks Supervisor. As a key leader within our team, you will oversee the maintenance of 46 park locations, including iconic sites like Ventura Community Park and the Ventura Aquatic Center.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will lead our Parks Facilities Maintenance team, directing maintenance projects for various park amenities such as basketball courts, tennis courts, BBQ & picnic areas, and more. Reporting to the Parks Manager, you will supervise a dedicated team of full-time employees and extra-help team members, ensuring the quality and efficiency of all maintenance activities. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating scopes of work for contracted projects and overseeing their execution.

Trade Skills: Proficiency in various trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and concrete work, enabling effective oversight and troubleshooting in these areas.

Pool Operations Expertise: Experience with pool operations and mechanics, including pumps, heaters, chemical controls, and water chemistry, ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of pool facilities.

Procurement Knowledge: Familiarity with purchasing and procurement processes, including running requests for proposals/bids and overseeing contracted work projects to manage resources and projects efficiently.

Asset Management: Familiarity with asset management plans and work order systems.

Note: The Department may rotate or cross-train supervisors between sections. Stand-by and callback duties may be required on a rotational basis with a response time of within 45 minutes.

Position Qualifications

A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to completion of a bachelor's degree in a related area and two years of responsible experience in park maintenance or landscape construction, OR a related Associate's degree and four years of experience, OR six years of experience. One year of lead or supervisory experience is required.

License: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver license may be required.

Certificates: Depending on assignment, possession of, or the ability to obtain a California pesticide applicators certificate within six months of employment is required. A California pest control advisors license may also be required. An Aquatic Facility Operator certificate is desirable.

Salary and Benefits

The City offers a total compensation package that includes both a generous salary and other benefits!

SALARY: $80,014.48 - $107,220.88 Annually DOQ
