The host or hostess is the critical first impression of the restaurant, and therefore is empowered to create memorable guest experiences. In a professional and friendly manner, they will greet guests, show them to their table or waiting area, or assist them in signing up for the waiting list.

Tierra Sur is looking for a Part-Time Evening Hostess. Monday through Wednesday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to:

Greet incoming and departing Guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort them to assigned dining area; present menus; announce waiters name;

Offer choice of seating based on guests’ party size and server’s availability;

Inform Guest of current promotions and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handbook to the service staff;

Engaging with guests to ensure they’re happy with food and service;

Read, maintain and make daily entries in the logbook to coordinate communication between shifts and management;

Maintain proper set-up of the dining room;

Remain knowledgeable of the menu;

Receive records and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant;

Engage with guests by providing great customer service;

Keep Host station neat and organized;

Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED preferred; or 6 months of relevant work experience in fine dining.

Knowledge / Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and

memos. Simple mathematics. Politeness, positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure. Ability to provide top-notch customer service. Willing to follow instructions and ask question for clarification as needed. Must be able to articulate clear greetings and farewells to Guests, as well as being able to understand requests for assistance. A desire to help out where needed and work as part of a team. Must be upbeat, positive and outgoing.
