SUMMARY:

Bartenders at Shelter Social Club bars are responsible for ensuring guests receive safe, compassionate and proper bar service while preparing consistent alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for the bar. Maintaining cleanliness and Department of Health standards at all times. Bartenders will adhere to Shelter Social Club’s (SSC) standards and practices develop an excellent rapport with all guests and employees, professional at all times. This role is primarily based out of either Bar Alamo at Alamo Motel or Chief’s Peak at Ojai Rancho Inn.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Genuine approach in the care and thoughtfulness in all areas of hospitality and service for employees and guests.

Warmly greet and acknowledge guests upon arrival and/or while moving through the bar. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with drink recipes and guest expectations

Remain fully knowledgeable of all menu offerings, acceptable modifications, allergy protocols, and any other information needed to maintain guest satisfaction and safety

Practice responsible alcoholic beverage service (including age verification) and report any issues to management

Record orders into the POS accurately and immediately after having received them

Maintain cash drawers and transactions accurately.

Report any shortages to management.

Familiar with all SSC locations, services, and local recommendations to respond to guest inquiries accurately.

Work with fellow employees and management, in a friendly and communicative manner, to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the bar

Ensure completion of daily tasks such as opening & closing duties, prep, and sidework.

Responsible for all areas of bar checklist on a daily basisEnsure integrity of perishable ingredients such as garnish, fresh juices, wine, etc

Stock bar with necessary product and service tools (i.e. beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies such as ice, glassware, etc.) as needed

Prepare necessary garnishes, syrups, juices, and/or batches according to program standardsReport all equipment problems, damages and bar maintenance issues to managersRecognize, engage, and learn the names and preferences of regular guests

Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly with the request or answer before a guest repeats the original request.

Respond and report guest service-related issues in a timely and effective manner.

Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures within the F&B department

Maintain proficiency in all areas pertaining to area(s) of responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness and defined aesthetic of assigned Shelter Social Club F&B guest areas.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of bars, work areas, tables, bartop, glassware, utensils, and bar equipment

Ensure all back-of-house F&B service areas are clean, free of clutter, and organized.

Complete inventory when requested and maintain FIFO of products and supplies, avoiding waste or shortages.

As requested, attend Food & Beverage meetings and any other meetings pertaining to F&B.

Keep Management informed of any accidents or problems involving guests or employees.

Prepare any written reports such as end-of-shift communication or follow-ups as needed.

Perform additional duties as requested by department managers and supervisors.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to satisfactorily communicate in verbal and written English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.

Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule.

Minimum 1 year previous experience as a bartender or previous experience in bar and/or restaurant.

Food Handler card and RBS Certification required per CA law.

Sexual harassment Prevention training competed annually.

Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.

Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues.

Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.

Must be physically able to wipe down surfaces, reach, twist, bend, and pick up debris from the floor or items from storage spaces.

Lift/carry 25 lbs (frequently) and 50 lbs (occasionally)

May be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, height, and moving machinery.
