DescriptionWHAT WE OFFER:

GENERAL SALARY INCREASE: A general salary increase of 3.5% effective December 22, 2024

EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: may be eligible for 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5%, based on completion of an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree from an accredited institution not required for the position.

HEALTH PLANS: Medical, dental, and vision plans for you and your dependents. A flexible credit allowance of up to $23,530 annually.

VACATION LEAVE ACCRUAL/REDEMPTION: A candidate selected for this position will earn 112 hours per year increasing to 152 hours after 5 years of service. After seven (7) years of service, the option to cash out up to 80 hours of accrued annual leave after using 80 hours within the preceding 12 months.

SICK LEAVE: A candidate selected for this position will earn 80.08 hours of sick leave per year.

HOLIDAYS: 12 paid days per year, including 1 floating holiday to use at your discretion.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: You may elect to contribute to one or both of the County's deferred compensation plans (established under Internal Revenue Code sections 401(k) and 457). If you participate in the County sponsored 401(k) plan, the County will match a part of your contribution up to 2% of your salary, on a per pay period basis.

THE AGENCYThe General Services Agency (GSA) is made up of Fleet Services, Facilities, Procurement, Special Services, Security and Business Support, and the Parks Department. The agency is responsible for a broad spectrum of services to all the County departments and agencies. It requires a very diverse workforce to accomplish the GSA mission of contributing to the quality of life in Ventura County by partnering with their customers to provide expertise and cost-effective service delivery, and foster the preservation of natural resources.THE POSITIONUnder general supervision, performs semi-skilled work in assembling, disassembling and maintaining components of modular offices, work stations and office furniture; maintains inventories, places orders for products, repairs chairs, and related work as required.The ideal candidate possesses a combination of technical skills and interpersonal abilities. They will have three years of experience installing modular office furniture systems and be familiar with various types of office furniture, including desks, chairs, cubicles, and storage units. They will possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills and have the ability to plan efficient daily work order schedules, coordinate with other team members, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the installation process.AGENCY/DEPARTMENTGeneral Services Agency, Facility ProjectsBuilding Interior Specialist II is represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) and is eligible for overtime compensation.Examples Of DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Moves County furniture and equipment between departments and buildings.

Reconfigures and repairs modular components and furniture, file cabinets, and conventional furniture.

From drawings, rough sketches and/or verbal instructions, assembles components of modular offices and work stations which include the following: standing the walls, installing connectors with a rachet; putting on base plates and baseboards; putting in electrical whips; leveling walls; hanging and leveling work surfaces; attaching drawer units, hanging shelves; attaching light; attaching flippers; hanging lateral files and adding electrical receptacles.

Documents, monitors, and reports on surplus office furniture components stored in GSA warehouse and ensures appropriate inventory is maintained.

Collaborates with contract installers to ensure that installations meet expectations and are completed on time.

Performs daily inspections of service vehicle (as required) and operates the vehicle in a safe manner. Responds to GSA Fleet service requests to ensure vehicle maintenance is performed and vehicle is in a safe operating condition.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Typical QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEAny combination of training, experience and/or education that would demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Considerable experience installing modular office systems.

Ability to obtain and maintain California Driver License by time of hire, and a good driving record.

The ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, twist, and lift heavy objects as required for furniture installation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools used in general maintenance and repair work related to the installation, repair, and configuration of modular office systems; basic mathematics; occupational hazards and safety precautions; and principles and processes for providing customer service.Working skill in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools used in general maintenance and repair work related to the installation, repair, and configuration of modular office systems.Working ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion and manual dexterity; understand and carry out written and oral instructions, including design plans/blueprints/floorplans related to the installation, repair, and configuration of modular office systems; diagnose minor mechanical and electrical systems problems and make minor repairs related to the installation, repair, and configuration of modular office systems; operate service truck; function as a lead worker, understand and adhere to safety protocols, communicate and interact effectively with others, provide excellent customer service, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.Recruitment ProcessThis is a continuous recruitment.
