Academic Year Recruitment Timeline:  

April 8 – April 26: Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume) 

Mid April – Late May: First round video interviews  

Early – Mid June: Second round interviews 

Late June – Early July: Selected candidates receive offers 

Academic Year Internship Program:

Program Dates: September 16, 2024 – April 18, 2025

Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.  We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Universal City, CA.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

Fandango Data Operations: The data operations group are technical analysts and technical product managers that work with our data engineering team to oversee pipeline projects in our data warehouse. We gather requirements from various business stakeholders and translate those into technical specifications for the engineering team. Additionally, we oversee back end validation projects that effect our payments systems and financial reporting for all Fandango businesses. As a data operations intern, you will represent the team on at least one project, acting as a technical product manager. You will work with business stakeholders to build a list of requirements, write up an initiative and create user stories for the data engineering team. You will attend meetings with the various teams on the project (our projects tend to be collaborations across the company) and provide status updates to our project managers and team leads. You may also have an opportunity to dig into data issues if they arise. Because we work with many groups within Fandango, you will have an opportunity to work with leaders from our ticketing platform, Rotten Tomatoes, Vudu, Marketing, etc.

Media Group HQ, Data Science: Our Data Science program is designed to provide interns with real-world experience working on projects on a typical Data Science environment, using state of the art tools and technologies, while gaining broad exposure to the media industry. Interns will acquire specific responsibilities, goals, and timelines aligned with the teams they are embedded in. Join us as we collaborate across our business to support and inform data-enhanced strategic decisions.

Studio Distribution – Title & Library Governance: Title & Library Governance provides oversight, curation, and guidance on our Title Catalogue and Asset Libraries. This team works directly with all our business units and titles from Peacocks Bel Aire to All the Housewives airing around the world. It is a great opportunity to see the breath of our library and partner with amazing teams developing, producing, and delivering our content. The intern will support analysis of current state digital assets and clean-up projects.

Basic Requirements:

Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2024 through April 2025). December 2024 graduates are not eligible for our 2024-2025 Academic Year Program.

Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).

Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship (September 2024 to April 2025). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 16, 2024 to April 18, 2025.

Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.

Desired Characteristics:

Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Experience with technical product management.

Proficiency in T-SQL syntax

Experience with Jira/Confluence a plus.

Working knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: R, Python, Julia, Java, Scala or similar.

Prior experience with Machine Learning and/or statistical modelling.

Familiarity with Spark, Databricks and/or AWS.

Experience with data visualization techniques and reporting tools like Tableau.

Familiarity with asset file types and metadata.

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00.The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $30.00 - $35.00.INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ATTENDING U.S. UNIVERSITIES:To participate in NBCUniversal’s 2024-2025 Academic Year internship program, you must confirm at the time of interview that you will be able to provide US work authorization documentation for the entire duration of the internship. Since the NBCU Academic Year Internship Program spans the traditional “Fall” and “Spring” semesters, you should talk to the DSO at your school’s International Students Services Office about your need to apply for CPT work authorization twice to ensure you are authorized to work both semesters and throughout the entirety of the program.Please also note that future visa sponsorship at NBCUniversal is rarely available for post-grad employment opportunities.NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number.
