Amgen is searching for a Legal Coordinator – Biotechnology & Process Development in our Intellectual Property and Litigation group. This role will be based at Amgen's headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California.The successful candidate will provide support to the Intellectual Property Law team by assisting with the preparation, filing (including e-filing), prosecution, and maintenance of patent applications both U.S. and Foreign. The role will include on-site duties such as meeting with individuals to obtain signatures and processing / routing hard mail communications. Additionally, the role will include preparing patent prosecution documents and obtaining signatures for the same, such as assignments, declarations, and powers of attorney. The role will also include drafting correspondence, obtaining references, patents, file histories, setting-up files and databases.Additional duties may include word processing, copying, faxing, scanning, maintaining filing systems (including on-line filing systems), running docket reports, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel arrangements, preparing expense reports, and utilizing on-line services (document orders, shipping, office supplies, etc.).WinWhat we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The professional we seek is an individual with these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:Associate’s degree and 2 years of legal experienceOr2 years in a technical school setting with hands-on experienceOrHigh school diploma / GED and 4 years of legal experiencePreferred Qualifications:

3+ years of recent patent prosecution experience in a law firm or corporate law department

Candidate should have strong computer, word processing and prooing skills

Ability to pay close attention to detail and manage several projects simultaneously

Exceptional communication skills – oral and written, including ability to effectively communicate with outside counsel

Outstanding interpersonal skills

Excellent time management and project management skills

Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills

Resourceful, creative, flexible and team player

Registered Notary Public or willingness to register as Notary Public
