Responsible for identifying complex problems within an area of research and developing algorithms to solve them. Evaluates accuracy and functionality of algorithms and evaluates the overall implications of entire frameworks. Responsible for overseeing design, implementation and evaluation of future products and applications. Guides engineering teams to successfully deploy and operate products and applications. Develops novel ways to solve problems and discover new products, provide guidance and leadership to other researchers. Collaborates and influences team members and collaborates cross functionally. Deciphers tasks into functional components and delegates to other members of the team. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. • The strongly preferred location for this position is at Comcast's offices in Sunnyvale, CA.
• Occasional travel may be required.

• Core responsibilities:
• Keep current with technological developments within the industry. Monitor and evaluate competitive products.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements, and analyze to determine integration needs when required.
• Analyze, evaluate and validate relevant technologies to produce prototypes, visualizations, and documentation describing approach, findings, lessons learned / best practice guidelines, and recommendations.
• Act as technical contact and liaison for outside vendors and/or customers.
• Present and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal and external audiences.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Specific responsibilities:
• Prepare, summarize and defend technical reports and presentations that characterize new technologies and their potential applications.
• Develop, test and support experiments with new functionality and behaviors within experimental and/or mainstream application platforms and frameworks.

• Guides the successful completion of high profile, revenue impacting programs. Serves as a leader to others for specific technologies and/or areas of research.
• Develops technical solutions to high profile, revenue impacting and complex problems within an area of research.
• Determines the technical requirements for an application or platform. Leads the design and implementation of applications and platforms within a specific area of research, partnering with the product team and other stakeholders through development. Conducts studies to support product or application development.
• Develops specifications, technical requirements, algorithms and frameworks of custom designs for future products and applications.
• Tests and evaluates solutions presented to the Company by various internal and external partners and vendors. Completes case studies, testing and reporting.
• Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, confluence pages, white papers, presentations, test results, technical manuals, formal recommendations and reports. Creates patents, API's and other intellectual property. Presents papers and/or attends conferences, as well as displaying leadership in these areas.
• Develops technical solutions to high profile, revenue impacting and complex problems.
• Determines the technical objectives of an assignment. Leads the design of prototypes, partnering with the product team and other stakeholders through development. Conducts studies to support product or application development.
• Organizes and maintains resources. Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, confluence pages, white papers, presentations, test results, technical manuals, formal recommendations and reports. Creates patents, API's and other intellectual property. Presents papers and/or attends conferences, as well as displaying leadership in these areas.
• Represents the work team and organization as the prime technical contact on assigned projects.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

• Candidates must possess a strong working knowledge of Linux variants
• 5+ years new technology or product engineering (hardware and/or software) experience.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related studies. Outstanding equivalent work experience may be considered.
• Strong math skills. Extraordinary design and problem-solving skills.
• Significant contributions to widely used frameworks (e.g. open / community source) a plus.
• Python experience a must.
• TensorFlow, Docker and machine learning model generation strongly preferred.
• OpenCV experience recommended.
• C / C experience recommended.
• HTML / Javascript familiarity a plus.
• Objective-C / Swift (iOS) and/or Java (Android) a plus.
