Research Project ManagerSchool of Medicine, Stanford, California, United StatesNewResearchPost Date 2 hours agoRequisition # 104061Stanford UniversityHealthcare AI Applied Research Teamis seeking a Research Project Manager to join our collaborative and dynamic team to perform work in support of research, applying basic knowledge and understanding of scientific theory and methods. We are searching for a professional with prior applicable experience in a relevant social science field, and skills in executing mixed-methods (qualitative and quantitative) research studies, project management, and on-time, on-budget project execution. The role requires high degree of organization, basic understanding of qualitative methods, ability to exercise initiative and judgment, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong work ethic of collaboration, and exceptional, client-focused interpersonal skills. The research staff will play an important role in conducting and analyzing mixed methods investigations of innovative health related artificial intelligence and machine learning models applied to real world clinical settings.This is an ideal position for an individual with master’s degree in a relevant field such as public health, health care administration, health services research, sociology, or anthropology, who has a passion for improving health and health care systems in the United States and the world through technology development, study and integration.The Stanford Healthcare AI Applied Research Team is a group of primary care physicians, scientists, and quality improvement and implementation experts who are dedicated to applied research on AI in healthcare. Our mission is to bring leading edge AI technologies "from code to bedside” in support of the Quintuple Aim. Our vision is to be a national leader in the study and implementation of AI technologies to solve specific, practical problems in healthcare.Duties include:

Assist principal investigators and executive director with designing experiments constituting a phase of a research project for which precedents are few; conduct experiments which may involve coordinating a complex experimental protocol.

Independently identify/modify standard procedures based on judgment concerning the general goals of a project; select approaches in developing, testing, and evaluating new methods.

Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams (in academia across different faculties or schools and in industry across different functions of the business).

Co-author all or sections of a report for publication or professional presentation with the work being reviewed by the principal investigator or faculty.

Present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.

Collaborate with the principal investigator to design a research approach of a project and/or integrate results of the entire project.

Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.

Supervise and train new staff or students, including hiring, performance management, and related duties.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate degree in a relevant field of social science or healthcare administration.

4 or more years of applicable experience.

Strong organization and project management skills.

Strong writing skills with the ability to publish in peer-reviewed literature.

Experience with DeDoose, Minitab, NVivo, Atlas.ti, R, and/or STATA software.

Strong client-facing interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to self-manage, set priorities, and easily adapt.

Experience with technology development methods and workflow integration in healthcare settings, especially artificial intelligence.

Experience and familiarity with community-based research and community based organizations.

Experience or exposure to health tech/AI/informatics.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Graduate degree in an applicable social science related field and five years of applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant experience in an applicable social science.

Expert level knowledge and skills in field of science related to research project.

General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.

Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work with human study participants.

Supervisory skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Occasionally stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, writing by hand, and sort/file paperwork or parts.

Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, and operates foot and/or hand controls.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

May be exposed to blood borne pathogens.

May be required to work non-standard, extended or weekend hours in support of research work.

The expected pay range for this position is $83,000 to $106,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
