Description Job Title: Senior Payroll Specialist Location: San Mateo County Job Responsibilities: Maintain accuracy of payroll records by updating personal changes or shifts in job structure or pay scale. Process payroll for 500+ employees across both public and private business sectors for a variety of industries. Use comprehensive understanding of Workday or ADP Workforce Now to manage the full range of payroll activities accurately and promptly. Prepare and submit payroll reports to accounting and adhere to the established schedules. Recommend changes to payroll procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Collaborate with the HR department regarding new hires, terminations, and benefits administration to assure accurate payroll processing. Respond to employees' payroll-related queries and resolve issues in a timely manner. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge about state and federal regulations concerning payroll procedures to ensure company compliance. Conduct audits of payroll records, benefits, or other HR programs, and recommend corrective actions. Complete quarterly and year-end adjustment activities, as well as annual preparations of W-2 forms. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. 5+ years of payroll experience, ideally in a senior or managerial role. Experience with large-scale (500+ employees) payroll processing across various industries. Excellent skills in using Workday and ADP Workforce Now. Strong understanding of payroll practices as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality and discretion. Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Certified Payroll detail oriented (CPP) designation is highly desirable. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
