We are car enthusiasts who love our customers. We pride ourselves in providing service excellence with every visit. When not wrenching professionally, our staff races Miata's and builds lemons race cars. We also love to go camping with our 4x4 trucks. We go to King of the Hammers each February. In June, we take a week off for summer break to tackle the iconic RUBICON TRAIL! If we are feeling SILLY, we may just do the GAMBLER 500 again :) At the end of September, we attend the 24 Hours of Lemons at Buttonwillow Raceway. Each November, we participate in the Miata Reunion at Sonoma Raceway. We like to finish up the year with extra days off around the holidays.

Harbor House Hybrids is a family-owned business established in 1964. We specialize in servicing 2000 and newer Asian and domestic gasoline, hybrid and electric vehicles. As a AAA certified shop, we uphold the highest standards of service excellence. Located in Morro Bay, California, our shop enjoys some of the best weather for working on cars. JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automotive Smog Technician to join our team. The Automotive Smog Technician will be responsible for conducting smog inspections and coordinating smog-related repairs in compliance with California regulations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency of our operations and delivering exceptional service to our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform smog inspections on vehicles in accordance with California smog regulations.

Diagnose and repair smog-related issues to ensure vehicles meet emission standards.

Coordinate with Service Manager and service advisor to schedule smog-related appointments and allocate resources effectively.

Stay updated on changes to California smog regulations and ensure compliance with all requirements.

Create accurate estimates for smog-related repairs and communicate findings to customers.

Utilize digital inspections and shop management systems to document service requests and maintain accurate records.

Collaborate with other technicians to address complex smog-related issues and ensure timely completion of repairs.

Handle customer inquiries and complaints regarding smog-related issues with professionalism and courtesy.

Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance smog testing and repair skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California Smog Check EO & EI licenses.

5 Years experience as an automotive technician, with specific experience in smog testing and repairs preferred.

Strong understanding of California smog regulations and emission control systems.

Ability to diagnose and repair smog-related issues on a variety of vehicle makes and models.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.

Team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on industry trends and regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.

In-depth knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures.

Proficiency in automotive service software and basic computer skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Knowledge of California smog regulations and experience coordinating smog-related repairs.

ASE certification (current or the ability to renew)
