United Staffing Associates is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic with CNG knowledge for a full-time, senior role in North SLO County. Using your excellent knowledge of diesel engines, commitment to high standards of quality and safety, and strong problem-solving skills, you will be part of a team performing all types of maintenance and repairs on a fleet of commercial vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel-powered buses, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with bus engines, transmission systems, suspension, and other components.
Repair or replace defective parts, including engine components, electrical systems, brakes, and exhaust systems.
Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic tests using specialized equipment and tools.
Perform emergency repairs to minimize vehicle downtime and ensure timely service.
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used and labor hours.
Ensure buses comply with local safety standards and regulations.
Follow company procedures for equipment safety, maintenance schedules, and inspections.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
Communicate with supervisors and management about the status of repairs and any needed parts or resources.
Stay up to date with advancements in diesel technology and repair techniques.
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical systems.
Experience working on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Engines.
Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with experience in bus or large vehicle maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
Strong diagnostic skills and familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license (Class B CDL preferred).
High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a diesel mechanic program or related training is preferred.
Physical ability to lift heavy parts, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Anticipated Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with overtime required when necessary.
