Meals That Connect is a nonprofit 501c3 with a mission to enhance health, restore dignity,

support independence, and reduce isolation for every San Luis Obispo County resident in need

who is at least 60 years of age by providing meaningful connections and free, hot, noontime

meals delivered to community dining sites or at home. www.mealsthatconnect.org

About the Position

The Community Engagement Intern supports the Program Manager to oversee volunteer

recruitment, engagement, and retention. The position also supports the Program Manager in

planning and implementing intergeneration activities and initiatives. This role works with the

community and internal staff which oversees 400 volunteers to further the mission of Meals

That Connect.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Program Manager to coordinate, develop, execute, and track intergenerational activities for our senior clients’ home delivery and congregate dining programs.

Recruit and be a single point of contact for dining site volunteers as needed by the 9 dining sites.

Leads training/onboarding for new and existing volunteers (currently facilitating over 400 companywide volunteers).

Create progress reports to fulfill grant requirements.

Manage program budget, track receipts, submit financial reports.

Qualifications

Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, databases.

Excellent communication skills to be able to interface with internal volunteers, staff, and the community.

Be able to keep detailed and accurate meeting minutes

Possess strong time management skills.

Possess an impeccable driving record and have reliable transportation.

Be very familiar with the San Luis Obispo County territory and communities.

Strong interest and capability in working with digital tools to produce reports, PowerPoint presentations and written documents.

Preference for working in a paperless environment with knowledge of digital project

management tools.
