Camp Counselor- Camp Expedition

Job Summary:

Dates: June 17-21st and June 24-28th

Hours: Monday-Thursday: 9-12pm and 1-4pm, Friday 9-12pm

The Camp Counselor is responsible for ensuring that all campers are satisfied and safe throughout their event.

Camp Counselor Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist in the planning and implementation of activities

- Set Up activities

- Check Campers In and Out – Sign in/out sheets will be provided

- Interact with campers

- Facilitate Activities

Safety & Security:

- Reads, learns and knows the CCASC Safety Handbook.

- Promotes a safe and healthy work environment for self, persons served, other employees and community.

- Ensures safe operation of Camp Expedition.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION and/or EXPERIENCE: HS Diploma or GED. Must enjoy working with children, preferably in services for individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illness.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

- Must have a valid Driver’s License, satisfactory DMV record and criminal record clearance through the DOJ.

- Language Skills- Ability to read, ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, board members, families and the general public.

- Reasoning Ability- Ability to define problems, collect information (incident reports), establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

- Able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training strongly desired.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is frequently required to drive. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

We represent families from an autism perspective in San Luis Obispo County. From running events to supporting with advice. We run events such as: Talent Shows, Teen Dances, Summer Camps, Zombie Run, Walk for Autism, Gym Days, family support groups, etc.
