Production Winery Harvest Intern

California, San luis obispo 00000 San luis obispo USA
Aplica ya

Company Description:

Harmony Cellars is a small family-owned winery committed to producing fine wines at affordable prices. Founded in 1989 by Chuck and Kim Mulligan, the winery has grown from a 2,000 case micro winery to a 7,500 case boutique production facility. We specialize in small batch, high quality varietals such as Chardonnay, White Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Tannat, among several others. Located in the small town of Harmony, North of Cayucas, our facility is positioned as such to have marine influence with cooler temperatures year-round than most wineries in our area. Beat the heat and work by the Beach!

We are seeking a motivated individual who is eager to learn about the winemaking process. This is an entry level position, so no experience is required. We only hire one intern per harvest, so you will have a guaranteed platform to learn a literal TON about winemaking. You will be working side by side with the winemaker and participate in everything that happens at a small winery during harvest.

Job Duties:

We wear many hats here in Harmony. Being at a small winery means that you will be doing many different tasks depending on the day. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Sanitizing/cleaning

Punch downs

Pump overs

Additions to fermentations

Inoculations

Temperature and brix readings

Lab measurements

Racking

Pressing

Barreling

Must be able to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and work on your feet for extended periods of time. Forklift experience is preferred but not required.

Scheduling:

Harvest is typically in full swing between late August and mid to late November. Once harvest begins, you can expect to be working 5-6 days per week with either Saturday or Sunday off. There will likely be overtime depending on the grape tonnage received that week. We typically won't work more than 10-12 hours per day max, and standard overtime rules and pay rates apply.

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
