Farm Job Description:
Morro Bay Oyster Company is looking for a new team member. We are looking for a positive, reliable, motivated person to work on our beautiful farm in the Morro Bay Estuary. We don't expect you to have any prior oyster farming experience but we look for independent problem solvers who thrive in an outdoor position.
The daily operations include packing and shipping orders, checking and reporting tank stats, short boat ride to our farm in the estuary, we work in and out of the water in either a provided wetsuit or on a work platform. We provide all necessary work attire i.e. wetsuits, gloves, boots, slickers. New hires will be trained to care for and plant new oyster seed, harvest, pack, ship and maintain mature oysters.
You will be taught to repair damaged gear and build new gear. You will be running various equipment used to mechanically sort, wash and move market oysters. The job is unique and and although the bay and environment in which we work changes daily, a routine is needed to grow a consistent product.
What is required:
-Full time positions only ( Mon.-Fri roughly 8-4:30, this schedule can change due to tides plus or minus 1-2 hours)
-You need your own reliable car to get to various starting locations for work.
-Lift 75 plus lbs.
-Able to swim
