Cafe Fiero (off-site commissary servicing Robin's, Novo and Luna Red Restaurants) is looking for a Production Baker to help fulfill baked goods production for our 3 full service restaurant locations.

This position is a Full Time, hourly position (approx. 30 hours/week) and requires Monday-Friday day time availability (8am-2pm).

Summary of Position:
The Production Baker will work closely with the Pastry Chef. They will be responsible for baked goods production and preparation (desserts, sweet + savory breakfast pastries and a few specialties breads/flatbreads) for our multiple locations and will be responsible for having all items ready and packaged for delivery on time in collaboration with the Pastry Chef. There will be a lot of hands-on production on a daily basis and this position will have repetition.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position works closely with the Pastry Chef and will be responsible for performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):
- Prepare and produce a wide variety of baked goods (desserts, sweet + savory pastries, sauces, breads)
- Follow the production schedule to ensure correct items and quantities are being baked
- Assist Pastry Chef by ordering ingredients, monitoring pars for baking ingredients/product on hand, maintaining accurate records of all ingredients, executing portion control and adhering to production guidelines
- Maintain clean ovens and baking areas in the kitchen
- Train in baking and production prep duties to support as needed
- Ensures that all desserts are prepared and able to be served in a timely manner
- Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizing, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
- Check the quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for baking and report any equipment and food quality issues to supervisor(s)
- Supervise and train baking assistants as needed
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor(s)
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Excellent preparation skills—-always thinking ahead and being one step ahead
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and standard baking procedures.
- Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process.
- Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
- Strong attention to detail & high standards of excellence
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.
- Must be able to read and understand recipes.
- Must be able to take direction and be self-sufficient.
- Must be driven and take initiative, with a strong sense of urgency.
- Must have a high level of integrity.
- Passion for food & culinary excellence.
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- At least 1-2 years of experience as a Commercial Baker
- Must have or be able to attain a valid California Food Handlers card
- Valid California Sexual Harassment Prevention Certificate
Physical Requirements:
- High level of stamina to work on feet for extended periods (be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 8 hours).
- Must be able to occasionally lift, balance, and move food product and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a supervisory or management capacity with a minimum of one employee working under you is preferred
- Flexible working hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays, when necessary.
- Genuine joy for the hospitality/restaurant industry
