The Contra Costa County Public Works Department is seeking to fill multiple vacant temporary Carpenter positions.
Under general supervision, performs rough and finished carpentry work (tenant improvements projects, general maintenance, roof repairs, job estimates, after hours emergency response and other related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
License: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
Experience: Either (1) completion of a four (4) year Carpenter Apprenticeship and one (1) year of full time or its equivalent experience performing rough and finished carpentry work at the journey level OR 2) five (5) years of full time or its equivalent experience performing rough and finished carpentry work and one (1) year of carpentry work at the journey level.
Applicants must be able to obtain Detention Facility Clearance to work in detention facilities
Typical Tasks:
· Receives, reads an interprets work requests, including obtaining necessary supplies and equipment to complete work requested
· Installs repairs and adjusts finished hardware such as locks and door closures, panic hardware and thresholds
· Performs keying and locksmithing
· Fabricates, installs and repairs casework, shelves, bulleting/white/glass boards, cabinets, furniture, floor and ceiling tiles
· Performs rough carpentry work such as constructing and repairing walls, stairs, concrete forms, fencing, floor and ceiling joist, sheetrock, demolition work and general maintenance
· Uses Excel to estimate job labor and materials and prepares written estimates
