About the Role

BBABinc is seeking a skilled Stainer/Painter with experience painting, staining and mixing colors to support the daily operations of the business. This role plays an integral part in the success of the company and is responsible for mixing stain colors in accordance with formulas, staining new play structure parts, fulfilling stain orders, creating stain sample packets, maintenance of older structures and special projects as assigned. Time is split between working in our 10,000 SQ FT shop and working on residential & commercial sites. The right candidate is willing to drive to local sites and travel by air to out-of-state sites. This role reports to the Lead builder and will also support the CFO and VP of Procurement as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Interact with & support Builder team members.

Preparing surfaces for staining and/or painting such as sanding, scraping, and patching

Staining by brush of small & large pieces of Play Structure & Treehouse parts made from redwood, Accoya & Thermory lumber. No spray painting involved in this work.

Occasional detail staining and/or painting of small, intricate parts & carvings.

Mixing from dry pigment and bottling up to 59 tung-oil stain colors in accordance with provided formulas, utilizing several large mixing machines to accomplish this task.

Fulfilling online stain orders on an as-received basis, including creating labels and packaging for shipment in a timely manner.

Creating BBAB redwood stain sample packets for client use.

Apply touch-up staining on site towards the end of the installation of a new play structure or treehouse, usually in conjunction with other team members.

Clean, re-stain and apply a finish coat of clear tung-oil solution to existing play structures & treehouses on the client’s site, sometimes in conjunction with other team members.

Working with the Financial Manager to estimate the number of hours required to re-stain a structure and the amount of stain needed.

Tracking job materials to place reorders in timely manner, including stain pigment, containers, brushes, solvents, etc.

Required Qualifications:

3 or more years’ experience as a professional painter or stainer (brush experience desired)

Professional attitude and positive demeanor

Current Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Use small tools, e.g., screwdriver, electrical & battery powered drills, hammer & chisel.

Lift up to 20 lbs. frequently throughout the day.

Lift up to 80 lbs in conjunction with other team members

Load product pieces into and remove from trucks, tying off securely using rope and/or wire.

Climb ladders.

Hold boards/trim in place while screwing or nailing to wall.

Work overtime, as needed.

Willing to drive to locate client sites and fly to out-of-state locations as part of the installation team for “away” jobs. Away jobs can be up to 7 days on site at a time.

Willing to sign a Non-disclosure Agreement (NDA) to never reveal client information.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in Spanish a plus.

Flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Willing to learn new things and take on new challenges.

Works well with other team members.

Not required but a plus: Photography skills

Compensation:

$25.50 - $32.75 per hour, depending on skill level and experience.

Hours:

Full-Time: 40 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with PAID 30-minute lunch breaks (minimum of 7-hours work per day required to be eligible for paid lunch) and (2) PAID 10-minute breaks throughout the day.

Full-Time Benefits:

30-minute paid lunch for each 7+ hour workday.
