Hello! Thanks for checking out our posting. We are B&B Horticulture, a small residential landscaping company based in Oakland. We are looking to add a position to our team to support our design program. This position is guaranteed for a consistent day each week (W, Th, or F, based on the candidate’s availability), with the possibility to add hours during busy seasons, or to support our maintenance team.
We know there are lots of postings here, so let us get right to the point. Why would you want to work with us? What sets us apart?
First, we are small, very small. You’d be our sixth team member. Two owners (business and life partners), three employees. We are artists, musicians, environmentalists, and outdoor enthusiasts. We are fascinated by plants. One of our owners has been in the field for 2+ decades, since teenagehood, and is committed to being the ethical boss he didn’t always have. We are rooted in the humanity of each other, of our clients, of all of Earth and her creatures.
The company is in a time of growth, and we imagine that the job you start with won’t be the job you end with. To begin with, this position will work closely with our two owners on our busy schedule of garden instals and refreshes. Our days start at our meet-up spot near Berkeley Bowl West, then we travel to gardens throughout SF, the East Bay, and the North Bay. Key required qualifications includ a valid CA driver’s license and enjoying digging (most days will include some digging, many days this position will be digging A LOT). Ideally candidates will have prior experience with local residential gardening and garden installation.
