POSITION SUMMARY

This position leads and coordinates maintenance operations within a high-volume commercial bakery facility. This requires directing and supervising daily equipment maintenance including troubleshooting breakdowns, implementing preventative maintenance schedules, and developing a capable, safety-focused maintenance team on multiple shifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

-Support maintenance mechanics across all shifts to ensure 100% production uptime.

-Oversee maintenance activities for all bakery equipment including proofers, ovens, dividers, mixers, coolers, and packaging lines.

-Coordinate and optimize the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life.

-Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, track equipment history, and control parts inventory.

-Quickly diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control issues, including PLC-related faults in high-speed bakery systems.

-Ensure maintenance work is performed safely and complies with food safety standards such as GMP, SQF, and HACCP.

-Collaborate with production, sanitation, and quality assurance teams to prioritize and resolve maintenance issues.

-Direct, train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff to ensure skill development and consistent work quality. Manage all personnel issues and labor costs.

-Maintain critical spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for timely restocking.

-Lead maintenance support during bakery product changeovers and equipment installations.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

-Communicates in both verbal and written formats effectively and accurately. Fully bilingual preferred (Spanish & English).

-Proficient in computer applications for both production and administrative duties.

-Ability to use a calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to accurately record results.

-Takes direction and follows instruction with attention to detail.

-Operates with a high-level of integrity, transparency, dependability and reliability.· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.· Must be a self-starter, work with minimal supervision and work well with staff at all levels.· Able to work under deadlines and handle multiple detail-oriented tasks.

-Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

-Ability to work flexible hours over multiple shifts including weekends or holidays as needed.

-Strong understanding of bakery-specific equipment and operations (e.g., dough systems, proofers, tunnel ovens, baggers).

-Skilled in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC systems troubleshooting and repair.

-Ability to weld, (TIG or MIG), a plus.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS·

High School Diploma or GED required; Technical certification or degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field preferred.

5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a commercial bakery or food manufacturing environment.

2+ years of experience supervising or leading maintenance teams in a multi-shift operation.

Experience with CMMS platforms such as Fiix, eMaint, MP2, or similar.
