Long established landscape and gardening company in SF is looking for a maintenance gardener. You'll learn about plants and gardening in beautiful high end gardens in San Francisco while providing excellent customer service to our beloved clients. I take the care of both my employees and clients very seriously. Both full time and part time positions are available. All work is in SF. A passion for plants and willingness to work hard is your best shot at this type of work.
Responsibilities:
Pruning, weeding, ladder work, planting, sweeping, cleaning, garden pest management, installing irrigation and pottery, visiting nurseries to buy materials, learn botanical plant names and gardening techniques, basic hardscaping, troubleshooting situations, face to face communication with clients and co-workers, cleaning the tools and truck as well as organization.
There is an opportunity to grow with the company to reach a level where you can participate with the design process and if all goes well, to have an active role in the future of the company as I head towards retirement.
Requirements:
Written and verbal English proficiency
Able to lift at least 50 pounds or more regularly and do physical outdoor work all day in every kind of weather. Ladder work is required
A passion for plants, aesthetics, and cleanliness
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication skills and to take direction
Ability to work alone and as a team
A valid CA driver's license and a clean driving record
Your own transportation with a reliable vehicle to carry a few small items like a broom and bucket
Follow safety protocols and be comfortable with power tools
No smoking during work hours and clothes may not smell like smoke during work hours
References are required
Compensation: Between $20 and $25 per hour depending on experience. Vacation pay and sick pay to accrue after initial 3 months. Mileage will be paid when you use your car for work errands. The opportunity to take home free plants and pottery/containers as they become available. No health insurance or holiday pay is offered at this time. We tend to take all major holidays off without pay.
