LOCATION: This Full-time position works at our MIEC main office located in Oakland, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY: This non-exempt role is responsible for performing and facilitating daily and recurring tasks relating to the building, grounds, vehicle and business equipment, while providing exceptional support to the building and excellent customer service to the internal and external customers. This position also monitors the overall cleanliness and functionality of the building. In conjunction with the external Building Manager, and reporting to the Office Manager, this position is also responsible for monitoring the physical security of the building, on a daily basis.

COMPENSATION

Salary based on experience and location:

Hiring range for Facilities Specialist (San Francisco Bay Area): $31.86 – $42.49 hourly (annualized hiring range is $59,267 to $79,023)

Hiring range for Senior Facilities Specialist (San Francisco Bay Area): $35.68 – $47.58 hourly (annualized hiring range is $66,379 to $88,505)

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma required.

Licenses/Certification: Valid California Driver’s License to operate company-owned vehicles to and from maintenance and service locations. Three-year (3) MVR to contain no more than one (1) moving violation and one (1) at-fault accident.

Experience:

At least two (2) years of experience in building maintenance preferred for the Facilities Specialist role.

At least three (3) years of experience in commercial building maintenance required for the Senior Facilities Specialist role, with at least five (5) years preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides general support for the operations of the building under the general direction of and in concert with the designated Building Manager.

Collaborates with the other department employees on a daily basis to provide strong customer service to MIEC employees and building tenants; performs backup duties for Office Manager role.

Monitors the physical security of the building which includes canvasing the building and grounds, and monitoring building system alarms/security cameras to ensure the physical safety of employees and tenants.

Performs minor maintenance throughout the indoor and outdoor areas of the building, property, and underground parking garage, including sweeping and hosing walkways, purchasing and replacing light bulbs, picking up trash, disposing of debris, limited internal and external painting and staining; assembly and disassembly of furniture; performs janitorial clean-up, on an as needed basis.

Performs minor groundskeeping and plant care duties throughout the indoor and outdoor areas of the building and property, raking leaves, mowing, edging, fertilizing, weeding, mulching, trimming, pruning, planting and watering.

Maintains utility areas including elevator, electrical & sump pump, facility supply/tool closet, electrical closets, rooftop area and disposal of debris & containers as needed.

Performs bi-weekly check of pool vehicle, including the moving of it to the street and cleaning it and fueling it. Takes the vehicle in for maintenance, when needed and upon approval.

Manages print projects (example: invoice printing), in collaboration with other departments. Maintains familiarity with mail room printer(s) and their functionality.

Processes facilities invoices for timely payment.

Supports IS/IT Department by performing IT-related tasks in the building, including but not limited to, setting up new workstations and equipment, troubleshooting technical issues for employees, replacing broken equipment and resetting WiFi.

Supports the People Operations Department for company-wide events, including offsite event locations.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing systems.

General familiarity with landscaping.

Satisfactory oral and written communication skills, enabling clear, effective, and professional communications with employees & company vendors.

Ability to work an assigned weekly schedule of Monday-Friday (7.5 hours per day), and occasional overtime or work week flexibility for after-hours building maintenance work.

Ability to understand and follow directions, as given, and to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to prioritize assignments and tasks in regularly changing workplace environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel; and Adobe Acrobat.

Strictly maintains confidentiality.
