Summary of Responsibilities: Skilled in various carpenter duties, experienced and knowledgeable of techniques and handling hand power tools.
Responsibilities:
Read blueprints: educated in material forms, grades and applications.
Realizes project objectives, responsible for quality and cleanliness on job site.
Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools.
Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand and power tools.
Select and order lumber and other required materials. Maintain records, document actions and present written progress reports.
Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses and buildings, using paint, hand tools, and paneling.
Construct forms for pouring concrete.
Cover sub-floors with building paper to keep out moisture and lay hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to sub-floor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base.
Fill cracks and other defects in plaster or plasterboard and sand patch, using patching plaster, trowel, and sanding tool.
Plans job material requirements effectively, orders or schedules pick-ups to most effective use of time and resources.
Demonstrates good job organization, jobs are started and completed with time scheduled. Demonstrates the ability to complete work on time. If addition work or time is required discusses this with project manager so the project can stay on schedule.
Is prepared and ready to work at job sites at time scheduled.
Completes time cards with accurate complete information. Ready to hand in completed timecard Monday morning at the safety meeting.
Demonstrates good work habits and works efficiently.
Can perform minor plumbing, welding and/or concrete mixing work.
Apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls.
Always promotes the highest level of professionalism and ethics.
