Kanen Coffee, LLC. is a growing high-end espresso machine retail and repair shop. Based in Berkeley, CA and serving the Bay Area since 2011, we are an authorized reseller and service provider of La Marzocco, Ergo/Rancillio, La Pavoni, CMA Astoria, Pasquini, as well as several other companies specializing in both commercial and home-use machines. Kanen Coffee, LLC. has service contracts with all of the customers with whom we sell machines, which guarantee regularly scheduled maintenance with the goal of keeping the machines at a high quality consistent with the first day of purchase. As our business continues to grow, we must increase our service capacity to meet the needs of our commercial and home-use customers.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experienced espresso machine repair mechanic/service technician who has extensive experience with commercial espresso machines, grinders, coffee makers, hot water towers, and other equipment in cafes, restaurants, and other businesses, preferably with La Marzocco, Mazzer, Mahlkonig, Bunn, and Curtis brands. The ideal candidate is someone with 5+ years of direct experience in espresso machine maintenance and repair, or a combination of appliance and HVAC repair. A foundational knowledge of electricity is essential, with a secondary foundation in plumbing. Knowing when and when not to mix the two is critical.
We are looking for someone who takes a great deal of pride in their work, with strong attention to detail, ensuring that high quality work is consistently performed. This individual must also have experience in direct customer service, with the ability to interact and communicate with customers, as needed. Familiarity with writing estimates and invoices is a plus. We strongly prefer candidates who can commit to a consistent schedule that aligns with business needs. This role also offers the opportunity of promotion based on performance and increasing responsibility.
Daily duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Diagnosing and repairing espresso and coffee machines
Packaging and shipping parts
Receiving purchases
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace
Going out on service calls, including driving a vehicle to and from service sites
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent certification
Direct experience in appliance repair and maintenance
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Ability to manage workflow
Experience working independently and as a part of a team
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to use hands to write, handle, feel
Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, and climb stairs
Regularly required to sand, stoop, kneel, crouch or reach
Must occasionally safely lift and / or move up to fifty (50) pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
