Looking for an electrical helper/apprentice to start within the next week or two. Preferably a young guy willing to get their hands dirty a bit who doesn't mind following instructions and digging or crawling when called for. We're a small business doing mostly residential and light commercial. At the moment you would be working directly with me 1 on 1, but we'll probably be hiring an additional journeyman soon. We mostly work Monday through Friday from about 8-430/5, and rarely work weekends, but when the job calls for it we do need to stay late sometimes to get somebodies power back on or take an emergency service call so applicant must be flexible in this regard. The majority of our work is in greater Santa Cruz, but we do some projects in San Jose and Monterey County as well so must be willing to drive to work in these locations.
Ideally any candidates would have some electrical experience and general construction experience with a basic understanding of things like wire sizing/wire colors, simple conduit runs, experience pulling wire and doing basic terminations like receptacles and switches, etc. Basic hand tools would be required at least after a preliminary period (list will be provided), and a basic set of power tools would be helpful, but not required.
Looking for full time only, and ideally somebody interested in learning and growing in the trade. Please respond with some relevant information about yourself such as age, which part of town you live in, vehicle situation, interest in the trade, etc. Resumes are helpful too, but I'm more interested in the general information listed above, and any specific details you can provide relating to your experience. Please mention specifics as to what type of experience you have such as which trades you have worked in and specific electrical tasks you may be competent in or have experience with. Examples would include things like experience running conduit (pvc or emt), terminating receptacles/fixtures/switches during trim out, terminating electrical panels, roughing in and pulling wire, etc. Any other information relating to your tool collection and vehicle situation would be helpful.
