Automotive Technician / Mechanic - A6, A8, L1, Smog Preferred

My name is Michael, and on behalf of Reliable Auto Repair, we are looking to add a new full time automotive technician for a five day work week. Our shop is located in south San Jose and is family owned and operated. The position is offered at an $80,000 yearly starting salary with an unlimited hourly bonus commission structure. We offer matching 401k, dental, health, and vision insurance plans, as well as vacation time.

A6, L1, & A8 ASE certifications are preferred as well as a smog license. We need a capable, motivated, and intelligent leader in the shop who can tackle diagnostics and not a parts changer!

Our shop has plenty of scan tools, experienced technicians, and most importantly the right attitude! We are looking for someone who is confident, energetic, and who shows initiative and drive to further their career. Our team has been together for many years and strong work ethic is required to join!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned):

-Test drives vehicles, tests components and systems, uses equipment such as oscilloscopes, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices to perform diagnostic functions.

-Examines vehicles to determine extent of damage, wear, or malfunctions.

-Repairs, replaces, and adjust brake system components and hardware.

-Follows checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, ignition systems, fluids, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.

-Confers with operations manager and service writer to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems, and to discuss work to be performed and future repair requirements.

-Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil & filter changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.

-Diagnoses, repairs, and services air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling, and electrical systems.

-Tests and adjusts repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications.

-Reviews work orders and discusses work with supervisors.

-Removes and replaces faulty assemblies such as drivetrain and transmission systems, steering systems, suspension components, and linkages.

Qualifications:

-To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

-Preferred Associate's degree (A. A.) equivalent from two-year College or vocational training; and 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar setting.

Knowledge of the use and operation of all automotive equipment and testing equipment, gauges and tools normally associated with the troubleshooting and repair.

Certificates and Licenses:

-Preferably 6 (ASE) Certifications: Electrical/Electrical Systems, Brakes, Suspension and Steering, Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Heating and Air Conditioning.

-Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable through company’s provider.
