Nick Engel & Co., a fine jeweler situated in the Castro district of San Francisco, CA, seeks a motivated individual to join our team. Operating as a specialized retail storefront, we focus on engagement rings, custom design projects, and Build-Your-Own Wedding Band workshops. Our offerings include curated pieces from 11 local jewelry artists, showcased alongside our on-site workshop. Comprising a diverse collective of jewelers, designers, and entrepreneurs, we work in a collaborative and easygoing environment. As business growth continues, we require a positive, knowledgeable, and results-oriented professional. The successful candidate will assume comprehensive sales responsibilities, demonstrating a proactive approach to business enhancement and development.
As a Sales Associate, you will be a key liaison between our valued customers, our skilled jewelers, and our trusted vendors. This multifaceted role involves active engagement in various aspects of the custom jewelry process. You will assist and manage the constant influx of custom job details and specifications, requiring meticulous attention to detail and consistent communication with the team.
This includes but is not limited to:
Daily monitoring of email correspondence: You will be responsible for staying on top of a high volume of email communication related to custom orders, ensuring that all pertinent information is captured and disseminated appropriately.
Coordination and communication: You will serve as the central point of contact, facilitating seamless communication between the jeweler, vendors and the customer. This involves relaying design specifications, providing progress updates, and addressing any inquiries or concerns that may arise.
Organization and follow-up: You will play a crucial role in maintaining organization throughout the custom jewelry process. This includes tracking order progress, ensuring timely completion of tasks, and proactively following up with all parties involved to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Your ability to effectively manage communication, maintain organization, and foster strong relationships with customers, jewelers, and vendors will be essential to your success in this role. Responsibilities in this role will encompass a wide range of customer service and sales support duties. You will work directly with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions. This includes answering questions about our products, both in-store and for custom projects, and guiding them through our class offerings. You will be expected to provide excellent, friendly customer service both in person and through email correspondence. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with Nick and the team on a daily basis to ensure that all calendar items and workflow tasks are managed effectively.
You should possess a positive, organized and welcoming attitude and be able to ensure maximum client satisfaction. To be successful as a sales associate, stay up-to-date with our product features and maintain our store’s visual appearance and cleanliness every day. Ultimately, the duties of a sales associate are to achieve excellent customer service, while consistently meeting expectations as the first point of contact and representative of our brand. Retail sales with customer service experience is a must. Jewelry knowledge will put you ahead of the rest, but you may be considered without.
Responsibilities:
Deliver exceptional customer service and engage with walk-in customers, presenting and demonstrating fine jewelry pieces with expertise.
Consistently achieve and exceed sales targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Foster and maintain strong relationships with jewelry artists and vendors through effective communication.
Stay well-versed in the jewelry collections offered, providing detailed product knowledge and presenting available customization options.
Process transactions and send invoices efficiently and accurately using Shopify and assess repairs.
Manage a high volume of custom projects using Trello, while simultaneously communicating updates to customers.
Ensure the store’s presentation meets high standards by maintaining a clean and inviting environment daily.
Conduct regular jewelry cleaning and maintenance to uphold the integrity and brilliance of each piece.
Adhere to established inventory control procedures to minimize loss and maintain accurate stock records.
Contribute to sales growth by suggesting strategic improvements, such as marketing initiatives and visual merchandising enhancements.
Skills:
Demonstrated experience in retail sales, client relations, or a similar customer-focused role.
Previous experience in the fine jewelry industry is highly desirable.
Project management and utilization of Trello or other project management or CRM software.
Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in product presentation and client interactions.
Comprehensive understanding of sales principles and best practices in luxury retail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in spelling and professional correspondence with focus on high volume emailing.
Social media management and email marketing experience are highly desirable.
Strong numerical aptitude for accurate pricing, transactions, and inventory management.
Hands-on experience processing transactions through a point-of-sale (POS) system. Shopify experience preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
