Security Manager - Chapel Music Venue

The Chapel is a 500+ cap music venue and event space located on Valencia Street in San Francisco. We’re seeking an experienced Security Manager to oversee security in the music venue and bar as well as various types of private events on the property. Candidates must have experience managing a team of 10+ security staff and a strong knowledge of entertainment industry best practices.

Must be an excellent team leader with a positive approach to management, and the willingness to work with other managers to plan and execute successful shows and events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Update our security strategies and protocols

Lead and manage security team including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management

Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations including required certifications, emergency plans, etc.

Collaborate with managers from all departments to develop and ensure compliance with security protocol

Conduct regular drills and training sessions in the areas of de-escalation, fire safety, overdose response, and other emergency protocols

Create written Standard Operating Procedures for reference by all security staff

Follow up on incidents that occur on site, including contacting those involved, writing incident reports, notifying owners, and other mitigations as necessary

Work a minimum of 3 shows or events/week, with additional time allocated for admin work

Oversee/reinforce the daily responsibilities of the security team including:

Setting up for shows and events

Conducting informational line-up before doors,

Enforcing proper check-ins including ID check, security wanding, bag checks, etc.

Additional opening and closing duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of three years of security experience in a public entertainment environment

Minimum of one year of experience directly managing a security team of 10+

Up to date on all certifications and training as required by California, San Francisco, and the ABC

Experience developing and implementing emergency response and incident management plans

Proven management skills and the ability to maintain a positive and tight-knit security team

Ability to work with other departments to plan and execute shows and events
