Responsibilities

A PBMC Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting special laboratory procedures for clinical trials performing high complexity laboratory techniques. These procedures are primarily associated with routine isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) following a specific standard operating procedure (SOP).

Perform PBMC sample processing and cryopreservation according to specified protocol.

Maintains specimen integrity by using an aseptic technique, following protocol procedures; observing isolation procedures.

Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of processing; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed as applicable.

Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.

Enhances laboratory department by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Monitor inventory of laboratory supplies and laboratory kits and order as needed.

Train other laboratory technicians as required.

Conduct clinical studies according to regulatory requirements including FDA regulations and guidelines.

Protect the safety and welfare of the study subjects by ensuring that the study is conducted properly and in compliance with ICH/GCP and Optimal Research Standing Operating Procedures.

Knowledgeable of the Sponsor’s protocol so that all study activities are completed correctly.

Any other matters as assigned by management.

Job Description:

A PBMC Laboratory Technician will oversee specialized laboratory procedures for clinical trials, executing high-complexity techniques. These techniques encompass, among others, the regular isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) as stipulated by the sponsored protocol, fundamental understanding of cell culture, proficiency in flow cytometry, DNA/RNA isolation, and more. They will ensure adherence to safety protocols while facilitating laboratory operations. Additional duties may be incorporated according to experience.

Preferred candidate will have a minimum 1-2 years of aseptic technique laboratory experience and/or phlebotomy experience.
