About the Role:
Mollie Stone’s Markets, an upscale, family-owned grocery store chain in the San Francisco Bay Area, is seeking a Full-Time Wine & Spirits Manager (Head Clerk). This position is ideal for someone who has a deep passion for wine, craft spirits, and gourmet food, and enjoys delivering outstanding customer service. The Wine & Spirits Manager is responsible for managing the department’s operations, product selection, merchandising, and customer engagement.

Essential Functions:
Assist customers with wine and spirit selections and provide exceptional service.
Offer pairing suggestions and education on both domestic and international wines and specialty spirits.
Maintain attractive, well-stocked, and properly signed displays.
Oversee the receiving and stocking of new shipments.
Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy and organization.
Collaborate with buyers, vendors, and staff to curate a high-quality, on-trend product selection.
Support cross-department needs, including cashiering and general store duties.
Ensure department complies with all applicable health, safety, and alcohol laws.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in retail, with a focus on wine and spirits.
Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role within a grocery or specialty retail environment.
Ability to perform basic inventory management and cash handling.
Knowledge of and passion for wine, spirits, and food.
Local candidates only.
Preferred Qualifications:
WSET certification or relevant wine/spirits education a plus.
Experience working with distributors and managing vendor relationships.
Strong visual merchandising and promotional planning skills.
Familiarity with seasonal product trends and regional producers.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Oversight of the department team and coordination with store leadership.

Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to regularly lift at least 50 lbs.
Standing: Up to 8 hours per day.

Reaching: Up to 4 hours per day.
