Department Description:
The Interpretive Centers and Sales Department is responsible for developing and operating visitor centers throughout the Golden Gate National Parks, providing visitor information, orientation, and other direct services. Conservancy Interpretive Centers provide educational, functional, and proprietary park merchandise along with changing park exhibits. The department develops park books, maps, and interpretive and branded products, manages warehousing and distribution, operates the Muir Woods Fee Collection program, and develops and operates the Conservancy’s online sales and wholesale programs. Interpretive Centers include Alcatraz Park Stores, Muir Woods Visitor Center, Lands End Lookout, Warming Hut, Fort Point Park Store, Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center, and Presidio Visitor Center.
Position Overview:
The Warehouse Associate II (WA) works to ensure our merchandise, store supplies, and other items are where they need to be. Whether dropping off a delivery, organizing pallets, or riding a barge, the WA actively supports the day-to-day functions of the retail operation.
Reports To: Assistant Manager II, Inventory; Manager II, Inventory
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Deliver merchandise, store supplies, and other items to our separate stores and stock areas in a safe, efficient and timely manner
Pick orders from our high-volume warehouse
Lift boxes and put them away safely
Organize pallets in the warehouse following a categorized system
Check in product from weekly deliveries and monthly barge shipments
Process damaged merchandise
Load and unload pallets on a barge that is scheduled roughly once a month
Pick up trash and recycling from the retail stores and deliver to a centralized location
Count merchandise accurately
Perform cycle counts that are scheduled roughly once a month
Stock the snack cabinets and brochure kiosk
Break up historical concrete to be packaged and delivered to the store
Provide basic upkeep to ensure a clean workspace
Safely operate all warehouse equipment and vehicles after training is provided- including a freight elevator, powered pallet jacks, pallet stackers, forklifts, and utility vehicles
Perform basic maintenance on warehouse equipment and vehicles, e.g., change the oil on utility vehicle, charge powered pallet jack, wash equipment
Works collaboratively with the Merchandising team to process deliveries, stock, fold, and tag merchandise
Works collaboratively with the Sales team to provide guest experience, operate the register, and bag items
Provide visitors with an excellent cash wrap experience through pleasant, quick, efficient, and accurate transactions
Foster a good working relationship with all other Conservancy and Park Service employees.
Learn systems and procedures to enhance selling efficiencies
Other duties as assigned by manager
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
Must communicate effectively
Must be comfortable working collaboratively on a team
Ability to work independently
Ability to operate warehouse equipment including powered pallet jacks, pallet stackers, forklifts and utility vehicles in challenging or unusual environments
Willing to get forklift certification if not already
Ability to operate a POS system efficiently and accurately
Must have a driver’s license
Must be competent in Microsoft Outlook
Must be responsible for punctuality and attendance
Ability to comfortably interact with visitors
Must remain open to changing priorities as customer and management needs dictate
Must have flexible availability including weekends, holidays, evening and night shifts
Must be willing to learn inventory management software
Must be willing to learn Microsoft Excel and Word

Work is performed in a Warehouse and Retail setting
This position frequently lifts, carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs
Work is primarily performed standing and walking
Work requires staff to take the Ferry from Pier 33 to Alcatraz Island
Work requires riding a barge
Pay Rate/Grade/Benefits:
This is a benefitted position working an average of 40 hours per week. Overtime is paid for any hours exceeding 8 hours in one day. The pay is $23.50/hour (Pay Grade 9).
