Job Description: Support Staff

Purpose: To support adults with developmental/learning disabilities in developing and maintaining independent living skills.

Reports to: Co-Executive Directors

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of six months of experience working with adults with learning/developmental disabilities is required, preferably in a community setting.

2. Clean driving record and reliable transportation to work.

3. Clear criminal background.

4. First Aid certification. ( Upon Hire Completed within 30 Days).

5. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet residents’ needs.

6. Reliable transportation.

Essential Functions:

1. Maintain daily logins with accurate accounting of hours worked.

2. Transporting and supporting residents to appointments, activities, and weekend outings.

3. Provide instruction and support around all areas of daily living, including, but not limited to: meal preparation, shopping, hygiene, personal care, budgeting, safety awareness, and maintaining a clean and healthy living environment.

4. Complete emails, progress notes, updates, and POS entries daily.

5. Monitor and support residents in taking medications.

6. Teach rights and the development of advocacy skills.

7. Assist with planning and facilitating community outings and activities.

8. Assist residents in developing natural networks of support.

9. Provide training and support in areas that enable residents to maintain their own homes in the community of their choice.

10. Transport residents to appointments, social activities, meetings, etc.

11. Assist residents in managing personal affairs.

12. Maintain a professional attitude, working cooperatively with all program staff, clients, families, and members of the community

13. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality.

14. May teach, assist, and/or facilitate classes, dinner groups, safety classes, fire drills, and special events/parties.

15. Attend and participate in all required staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

Functions:

1. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

2. Cleaning and maintenance of all households.
