Role
The Armory/Overlook Full Time Lead Monitor works closely with the Program Manager, Assistant Program Managers, and other Lead Monitors to help oversee the operations of the Armory/Overlook Shelter consisting up to 135 sheltered individuals. This role provides overall management and supervision to the shelter program, including supervision of staff, implementation of policies and procedures, participation in obtaining and maintaining compliance with grants and contracts, and integration of the program with others in the organization. The Full Time Lead Monitor is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted on-site 24/7/365 coverage of the residential facility.
Position Overview
Small Scale
Understand and enforce shelter rules and regulations.
Be on time for all scheduled shifts as indicated on schedule.
Follow proper call of procedures.
Be available to cover shifts as needed.
Orient and train newly hired monitors.
Report to the Program Manager any resident infractions or concerns.
Provide coverage and security at the front desk.
Serve meals.
Clean and maintain all common areas of the shelter including the kitchen and bathrooms.
Coordinate laundry services.
Provide residents with tents, and blankets as needed.
Clean out tents as residents exit the shelter.
Read daily log and complete daily tasks and responsibilities as indicated.
Document in log important events or supplies needed.
Complete all assigned tasks on the daily chore list.
Answer all telephone calls, take accurate messages, and forward to the appropriate individual.
Big Picture
Assist the Program Manager and Assistant Program Managers with the operational day-to-day activities including development, planning, and implementation of all program components.
Work with the Program Manager and Assistant Program Managers to ensure uninterrupted on-site 24/7/365 coverage of the shelter.
Assist/advise the approval/denial of client terminations and the coordination of tent assignments and other daily shelter-related activities.
Ensure new clients receive and understand program requirements, rules, and regulations.
Maintain knowledge of fire, safety, health, and work standards to ensure a safe and positive environment for all.
Provide emergency assistance to guests and coworkers as necessary.
Always maintain security of the Armory/Overlook at all times.
Provide routine on-call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays
Develop and implement programming to address shelter guests’ self-identified goals.
Work with shelter guests to ensure cooperation and safe conditions for residents and staff.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Provide overall support for residents of Armory/Overlook Emergency Shelter. This may include, but is not limited to:
supervising and guiding residents,
enforcing shelter rules and regulations,
maintaining a safe and secure environment,
communicating with coworkers (verbal and written),
monitoring and documenting the resident's behavior (including but not limited to attendance and absences from the program),
performing housekeeping responsibilities,
performing clerical tasks,
completing emergency intakes, and
utilizing HMIS license to enroll and exit residents, and update residents’ case notes frequently.
Provide overall supervision of staff at the Armory/Overlook Emergency Shelter. This may include, but is not limited to:
supervising all shelter day-to-day staffing activities including training and development, scheduling, and oversight;
overseeing the development of direct report daily, weekly, and monthly schedules with workloads that achieve program objectives without unnecessary overtime;
ensuring staff performance meets or exceeds program goals and objectives; and
conducting and coordinating onboarding, training, supervision, and evaluation of shelter staff.
This position is a full time, nonexempt, benefited position. Full time expectations are 32-40 hours of work per week.
