Part-Time-Chef position

16 to 20 hour week

Ohlhoff Recovery Programs is looking for an experienced part-time cook to work in our residential program. In this position, you will work with the other chefs and at times alone depending on the shift. As the full-time cook, you must be able to prepare and deliver a la carte breakfasts, buffet style luncheons, and serve plated evening dinners. You will be responsible for ensuring food quality and safety. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude and a passion for cooking!

Chef duties and responsibilities include:

Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items

Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures

Rotate stock items as per established procedures, stock kitchen for subsequent shifts; unload weekly deliveries

Ensure that food prep areas are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift.

Ensure that all dishes are cooked well and presented in an aesthetically pleasing way

Monitor equipment quality and take safety measures while cooking and operating kitchen equipment

Assist with special events such as holiday dinners & board meetings

Chef characteristics include:

Willingness to learn-to be a chef you must master flavors and techniques of different dishes which take time and a lot of energy.

Genuine Passion- keep your artistic flair alive in order to help you enjoy the work.

Organization- It’s essential that you have the ability to always work clean and tidy.

Ability to Skillfully Multitask- be able to think about the whole picture and understand and know what the clients are experiencing while eating a meal that you have prepared.

Creativity-being a cook is more than just following a recipe. Ask yourself how does the dish look, how does it taste. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Time Management-accurately plan your work effectively

Teamwork- Being able to both work and get along well with your team is an essential skill.

Resilience-be able to receive feedback from the head chef and colleagues. Handle criticism honestly and decide whether or not it is valid.

Stamina-you need to an excellent level of physical and mental fitness; remain focused and consistent.

Part-time Cook must have the following qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

2+ years of experience as a cook in the restaurant industry

Non-judgmental, open-minded and respectful to others
