Ohlhoff Outpatient Primary Addiction Counselor
Job Description: part-time position
Reports To: Ohlhoff Executive Director and Outpatient Team
Overview of Position:
The Ohlhoff Outpatient Program provides outpatient counseling services, at the group and individual level, to clients seeking treatment for substance use disorders. An Addiction Counselor is specifically responsible for all clinical work and administrative responsibilities required in administering treatment and maintaining client records. An Addiction Counselor represents the Ohlhoff Recovery Programs Agency and the recovery community, while upholding the highest ethical standards of the profession.
Specific Responsibilities:
Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups
Conduct adult, individual and group counseling sessions.
Attend individual and group clinical supervision sessions on a weekly basis, including weekly staff meetings.
Conduct intakes/assessments with prospective clients as necessary.
Coordinate treatment plans with all members of the treatment team; including Clinical and Medical Directors,
Program Director, other Staff Counselors, Case Managers and Intern Counselors.
Prepare and complete progress notes and records for all individual client sessions and groups.
Return clients’ and potential clients’ phone calls and e-mails as required.
Special Skills: Due to the nature of Intensive Outpatient Treatment, our team requires counselors to have and develop skills in the following clinical areas:
Crisis management
ASAM Criteria
Substance abuse treatment
Co-occurring disorders
Skill training and psychoeducation
Motivational Interviewing
Differential diagnosis and treatment planning
Providing and supporting referral services when necessary
Maintaining a safe, sober, and supportive environment in the clinic at all times
